Quirijn Bongaerts is one of the founding partners of Birkway, an Amsterdam-based litigation boutique with a strong focus on mass claims and collective redress. Quirijn litigates on behalf of representative groups in relation to the diesel emissions scandal, business to business claims against power supplier Vattenfall, and against listed entities in relation to shareholder claims. Some of these cases have led to landmark judgments, including the first ever appointment of a lead claimant in a collective damages claim in the Netherlands and a ground-breaking court decision binding all class members to the contingency fee owed to the lead claimant. Jason Ethridge is a Director of Investments at Gerchen Capital Partners, where he leads legal underwriting. He is responsible for identifying and evaluating potential investments, managing all aspects of the underwriting and due diligence processes, and overseeing investments to final resolution.
Jason has experience evaluating litigation investments across a wide variety of substantive law and across an array of domestic and international jurisdictions, and he brings elite-level legal practice experience in all stages of litigation from origination, evaluation, and filing strategy to trial, appeal, and judgment enforcement. Prior to GCP, Jason practiced at Keller Postman, LLC and at Kellogg, Hansen, Todd, Figel & Frederick PLLC, where he worked on large commercial cases primarily representing plaintiffs in class actions, mass torts, multidistrict litigation, and arbitrations.
Jason also served as a law clerk for Judge Pamela Harris of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and Judge Dabney Friedrich of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

Ted Farrell is the Founder of Litigation Funding Advisers, (“LFA”), a full-service legal finance advisory firm. Recognized by Chambers and Partners as one of the leading Litigation Finance Brokers in the United States, he leverages his experience as both a user of litigation funding in private practice and his time working for a global legal finance firm to secure optimal funding solutions for law firms and claim holders. Ralph is a Partner in the Insurance Disputes and Group Action practice. He advises on a range of commercial disputes with particular specialisms in insurance/reinsurance and shareholder mis-selling claims. He is also an expert in various forms of alternative litigation funding and group claims.
Ralph has worked on a number of shareholder mis-selling claims under s90 and 90A FSMA and is an expert in both structuring these claims and applying the law in this rapidly growing area. He has so far helped recover over £200million for excess of 100 institutional shareholders, holding UK listed plc’s to account for losses suffered by investors as a result of their improper/unlawful conduct. Those clients include well-known public and private sector pension funds and sovereign wealth funds from a wide range of countries.
He has also been involved in a number of group actions against insurers concerning Covid Business Interruption Insurance claims.
An expert on alternative modes of litigation funding, including third party funding, ATE/BTE insurance products and CFAs/DBAs, Ralph also advises corporates, funders, insurers and individuals on various aspects of alternative funding.

Nicola is an English solicitor and HFW’s Global Disputes Knowledge Counsel.

Nicola is an experienced user of funding and financing. At a previous firm and early in her career she represented the successful defendants in the seminal funding case: Arkin v Borchard anors. As part of HFW’s Funding Committee, she regularly advises on the use third party funding, CFAs/DBAs, and other forms of financing; and works with funders and brokers to ensure appropriate terms and structures are agreed.

Zachary Krug is Managing Director of Legal Assets at NorthWall Capital, a London-based private credit fund. Prior to joining NorthWall, Zachary led the legal assets strategy at Signal Capital and was a senior investment officer at Woodsford Litigation Funding in London. Before moving into litigation finance, Zachary was a trial litigator for nearly a decade and half. He most recently was a litigator in the Los Angeles office of the global litigation firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan. Maurice is a member of the investment team at Harbour, the world’s largest privately owned dedicated litigation and arbitration funder. He originates new investment opportunities from law firms, corporate counsel, and insolvency practitioners in the 14 jurisdictions where Harbour has investments. He also co-ordinates Harbour’s sales planning.
The proposals Maurice presents to Harbour’s investment committee include commercial litigation and arbitration of all types, fraud, enforcement and asset recovery matters, and IP cases. He funds portfolios of litigation, monetisation of ongoing cases, and also works with law firms on funder-backed Conditional Fee Arrangements and Damages Based Agreements. He is part of the team which leads on Harbour’s credit facilities for law firms.
Maurice holds a law degree from the University of Cambridge, and started his career in a firm of specialist fraud litigators, and before joining Harbour in 2019 he spent ten years working in barristers’ chambers.

Jamie has worked in the ATE market for the past 17 years. His experience includes underwriting and managing a significant volume of High Court disputes as well as supporting successful appeals to both the Court of Appeal (Salt v Stratstone Specialist Ltd [2015] EWCA Civ 745) and Supreme Court (Braganza v BP Shipping Ltd [2015] UKSC 17).
Jamie has created bespoke hedging products for commercial litigation funders and also a number of novel insurance schemes across the areas of privacy, property, and nuisance litigation.
